"Merrily We Roll Along" is a song written by Charlie Tobias, Murray Mencher, and Eddie Cantor in 1935, and used in the Warner Bros cartoon Billboard Frolics that same year, it is best known as the theme of Warner Bros.' Merrie Melodies cartoon series.

Merrie Melodies is an American animated series of comedy short films produced by Warner Bros. between 1931 and 1969, during the golden age of American animation. As with its parent series, Looney Tunes, Merrie Melodies featured some of the most famous cartoon characters ever created, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig.

Lyrics and melody of “Merrily we roll along” is based on the chorus of a folk song named “Goodnight Ladies”. The composer, Edwin Pearce Christy, lived in 19th century and the song had been written for a minstrel show. The verse of the original song was “Goodnight, ladies! Goodnight, ladies! Goodnight, ladies! We’re going to leave you now”.
